Enjoy Living Together with Multi-Generational Homes

The family unit has never been more important than now. The rising cost of housing and the pandemic have brought people together. We’re seeing young adults and older people wanting to enjoy the financial and social benefits achieved through multi-generational homes. Teenagers are opting to stay at home longer to save money, while seniors are moving in with family members for care and support. But living together is not easy unless you have a well-designed home providing ample space and privacy.

At CJ Homes we’ve developed a range of multi-generational home designs, offering people stylish independent living under one roof. Our team of Building Designers has created many stunning homes ranging from single storey, acreage style to double storey homes with an extra kitchen, bathroom and living areas.

Typically these designs include:

  • Master bedroom and ensuite with walk in robe and ensuite
  • Three to six bedrooms with built in cupboards
  • Three bathrooms and powder room
  • Large spacious family kitchen
  • Butler’s pantry  or walk in pantry
  • Compact second kitchen
  • Separate large living areas
  • Multipurpose rooms, media and study areas
  • Private patios
  • Alfresco entertainment area
  • Double lock up garage plus space for additional cars
  • Separate laundry
  • Ample storage for linen

Some of our popular multigenerational designs include Mantra MG, Rosedale, El Paso.

Savvy Investors Choose Dual-Living Homes

Dual living or dual occupancy is gaining popularity with savvy investors and young people looking for affordable housing options.  So what is Dual Occupancy?  Essentially, two dwellings are built on a single block of land, under the same roof or separate, on one title.  The main property looks like a typical home from the street but it is in fact divided into two dwellings separated by a fire wall with a private second entrance. Each has individual service connections for energy and water.

Typically our dual-living designs feature three or four bedrooms in the main home, plus one or two bedroom options in the second dwelling.  Each home will include a kitchen, dining and living rooms,  plus bathrooms, laundry and lock-up garages.

Our dual-living designs offer fantastic flexibility to achieve privacy and extra income too. Savvy property investors, looking to maximise rental returns, can build new dual living houses and gain double the income, and take advantage of tax depreciation allowances too.
