Requirements for Knocking Down and Rebuilding New Homes 

Before you can knock down and rebuild on land with an existing home, you’ll need to aware of certain factors including: 

  • Obtain demolition approval from Council.
  • Engage demolition company to remove or demolish existing dwellings (we can help recommend reputable companies).
  • If you suspect you may have asbestos, contact a specialist removal company.
  • Clear all structures including sheds and large trees that may interfere with construction. 
  • Obtain a detailed survey of your land (survey will help to define your boundary, as well as provide valuable information such as sewer lines and services).
  • You may need an application for sewer removal and power removal.
  • Development Approval will be required. Check with your local Council regarding building considerations and restrictions.
  • Soil tests will be required.
